This. Our History.

Wesbank No.1 Primary School was the first architecturally designed school built in 2001 in Wesbank. It was the first of its kind in Wesbank. The learners of the Wesbank area attended schools in neighbouring areas for example Kuilsriver, Blackheath, Melton Rose, Bluedowns and Silversands.

Wesbank No.1 Primary opened its doors in January 2002. Learners were sent to Wesbank No.1 Primary with their teachers from these schools mentioned above. This caused lots of tension as a new identity has to be forged.

For our value, Diligence, we decided to celebrate one of our own....

"Work Hard, Never Give Up, Even When Something Seems Difficult"...

A true reflection of Arzydia Komar, an ex-learner at Wesbank No.1 Primary. She explained how sport, especially Rugby was her refuge when things felt really bad at school.

Mentioning that she wasn't academically very strong, she had to do something constructive, and she found her love in Rugby.

Today, we celebrate in her success as she now plays for the Springbok Rugby Team.

As a school and as a community at whole, we are very proud of you Arzydia.

May the other learners see that there is hope and that diamonds are also found in Wesbank.

You are a true gem and we wish you well with your career.
